House Approves Transportation Lock Box

June 6, 2017

The House has passed House Joint Resolution 100, which calls for a statewide referendum asking voters to amend the State Constitution to ensure that money in the Special Transportation Fund (STF) is in a "lock box" and can be spent only on the state's transportation needs.

This is a good measure that will ensure that all money collected through various fees in the STF is spent only on transportation costs.

The money will remain in a perpetual fund and the General Assembly will direct the resources solely for transportation purposes, including the payment of debt service on obligations of the state incurred for transportation purposes.

I am glad we are taking steps towards a stronger Connecticut!
