I am proud to join House Democrats in supporting a new proposal to boost education funding. I'll break down how it will strengthen our public schools.
The governor signed a bill into law supporting our warehouse workers. Please read below to learn how this measure protects those employees amid safety concerns.

| Proposal To Boost School Funding |
|
|
I strongly support the efforts of House Speaker Matt Ritter, Majority Leader Jason Rojas, and our legislative colleagues to increase education funding for cities and towns across Connecticut. Without a boost in state investment, communities like Hartford and West Hartford may have no choice but to raise property taxes or make difficult cuts to our public schools.
For too long, students in Hartford have faced the effects of chronic underfunding. Our schools and our children deserve better. This proposal would direct $100-$150 million in one-time surplus funding to municipalities help close the gap. |
|
By prioritizing student need, this plan could bring a 2%–5% increase in Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funding. That support will help our schools manage rising costs, invest in student success, and reduce pressure on local taxpayers. We do have more work to do, but this is an important step toward giving every child the resources and opportunities they deserve. |

| Warehouse Workers Rights Law |
|
|
| Governor Ned Lamont has signed the Warehouse Worker Protection legislation into law, marking a significant step forward in strengthening labor protections across Connecticut. This new law is designed to safeguard employees working in warehouses and fulfillment centers, industries that have seen rapid growth alongside increasing concerns about worker conditions and productivity demands. |
|
The legislation establishes clear boundaries around the use of performance quotas, ensuring that such expectations cannot interfere with workers’ legally mandated rights, including meal periods and bathroom breaks. Employers are now required to be transparent about any quotas in place, meaning workers must be informed in advance of the specific performance standards they are expected to meet.
Importantly, the law also introduces accountability measures. Employees who experience violations of these protections now have the ability to recover costs or damages they may incur as a result.
The law positions the state as a regional leader in advancing worker rights and reflects a broader national trend toward increased oversight of workplace conditions in high-demand logistics sectors. |

I am excited to invite you to my Second Family Resource Fair, a free community event to connect residents with valuable programs, services, and support available in and around Hartford.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 11 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Maria Reina de la Paz Parish on New Britain Avenue.
This resource fair will bring together hospitals, state agencies, and community organizations to share important information that can help individuals and families, from health care and education to housing and workforce support. It's a great opportunity to learn what's available, ask questions, and get connected to resources that can make a real difference.
In addition to the resource tables, attendees can enjoy free food, live music, and a welcoming family-friendly atmosphere, with help from some of my legislative colleagues. I hope you will join us for an afternoon of connection, community, and support. |

| A new partnership connecting Hartford residents with meaningful job opportunities could be a game changer for individuals and families seeking greater economic mobility. Hartford Works is a new initiative designed to create a stronger pipeline between local talent and employers, helping ensure that residents can access quality jobs while businesses retain skilled workers in our neighborhoods. |
|
The program includes a new centralized digital hub where job seekers can find training resources, connect with essential support services, and explore job listings in one place. Several major employers are participating in the initiative, include The Hartford, Travelers, and Hartford HealthCare. |
