Let's Discuss New Education Laws Sept. 24

September 3, 2019

You may have seen this article in the Hartford Courant outlining some new state laws that affect our students. The new laws include the addition of African American and Latino studies, an increased emphasis on computer science, the ability to have longer recesses, and a ban on smoking on all school grounds.

These are just a few of the laws that will impact our students. As the House chair of the Education Committee, I'm proud of the work accomplished and look forward to seeing the positive impacts of these policies.

There are many more important changes that will benefit our students, and Superintendent Nancy Sarra and I would like to take the time to explain how changes will specifically impact New Britain schools.

Please join us from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Smalley Elementary, 175 West St., New Britain, to hear about the new laws and ask any questions. I look forward to seeing you there.
