Local Nonprofit Receive State Funding

January 8, 2019

Three local Norwich nonprofit agencies were included in approximately $30.8 million in state grants that are being awarded to 92 nonprofit organizations throughout Connecticut as part of the state’s Nonprofit Grant Program.

The program assists organizations with the costs associated with one-time infrastructure improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided by the organizations.

Created by Governor Malloy in 2013, the program has invested a total of $105 million in hundreds of the state’s nonprofit organizations since its launch with the latest allocations being the seventh round of grants.

I am delighted to see this much needed funding awarded to these local organizations. They each provide unique services to our constituents and it is critical that their facilities are kept in the best possible shape.

The following Norwich organizations were included in this round of grants:

  • Norwich – Martin House, Inc.: $38,833 (Replacement flooring following mold remediation)
  • Norwich – The Arc New London County, Inc: $100,302 (Sprinkler installation #2 at supported residence for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, sprinkler installation at supported group residence for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities)
  • Norwich – United Community & Family Services, Inc.: $834,350

The 2019 Legislative Session will start Wednesday.
