BPRC Outlines 2018 Legislative Priorities

March 12, 2018

Today, members of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus that I am honored to lead, along with our vice-chair Rep. Brandon McGee, - held a press conference at the State Capitol to discuss our 2018 legislative priorities.

Supporting our middle class families and creating opportunities for everyone is our primary goal, as well as pay equity, earning a livable wage and protecting women's healthcare. Additionally, securing the support that displaced families from Puerto Rico need and addressing mistreatment of inmates and providing quality healthcare for them; facilitating recruitment and retention of minority teachers and workforce development are all top priorities!

In February, we hosted a public forum with public participation and heard their ideas and concerns relating to minority communities. I am pleased our Democratic leadership has put out an aggressive agenda that addresses various critical issues that we embrace. Supporting our middle class families and creating opportunities for everyone is something we fully support. Pay equity, earning a livable wage and protecting women's healthcare are all priorities we champion.
