Supporting Prescription Related Bills

May 21, 2019

SB 4, An Act Concerning the Accessibility to Prescription Drugs

The bill requires a study of the public health impact of people not taking their prescription medications, or not taking them as directed, because they cannot afford to pay them.

SB 48, An Act Requiring Manufacturers of Brand Name Prescription Drugs to Provide Samples of Such Drugs to Manufacturers of Generic Prescription Drugs

The bill will promote competition in the prescription drug market by allowing developers of generic drugs and biosimilar products to obtain reference samples.

Both these bills are important to protecting our community. Nobody must choose between medication and food or vice versa. Being able to access prescription drugs is a basic right that must be fulfilled and as the Legislature, we must help increase accessibility.

Let us work together to make these bills law.
