The House just passed HB 7244, An Act Concerning a Grandparent’s Right to Visitation With His Or Her Grandchild. This legislation gives grandparents an opportunity to petition for visitation rights with their grandchild, but still allows the court to deny such visitation, if the court feels it’s in the child’s best interest.

I was happy to also vote in favor of HB 5135, An Act Concerning Electronic Proof of Automobile Insurance Identification Cards. This legislation allows motorists the ability to use an electronic copy of their auto insurance during a traffic stop or in any other situation to prove that they have auto insurance. This is common sense for the digital age. Forty-eight other states have passed a similar law and it is now time for CT to do the same.
