Updates from State Rep. Gary Turco for Oct. 17, 2025

October 17, 2025

I first want to express my deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the tragic death of Jacqueline Torres Garcia, the girl whose remains were discovered behind an abandoned home in New Britain.

Local police swiftly identified and arrested several family members in connection with Jacqueline's death. Two people have been charged with murder.

The New Britain delegation is in communication with the Department of Children and Families, and we have asked for a full investigation into this tragedy to work to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.

Wearing Pink at NHS Football

Earlier this week I was at the Newington High School football game and proud to wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was also great to join Board of Education Chair and cheerleading coach Amy Devoe Perrotti in showing our support!

Veterans Dental Benefits

The Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI) has received a $25,000 grant to provide free dental services for veterans in need.

The program is open to veterans living in the Greater Hartford area, but there is flexibility as long as participants are willing to travel to Farmington.
