Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday!

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On the third Monday of January, we take a moment to celebrate the legacy of a consequential figure in American history. Dr. King worked alongside other civil rights leaders, and they were able to successfully push the federal government to pass legislation that ensured that equality, not discrimination, was the law of the land.

MLK Day is also a national day of service. If you have the day off, I'd encourage you to consider volunteering in your community. Click here to find an opportunity near you.

Norwalk will have a daylong celebration in Dr. King's honor. The celebration will begin at Grace Baptist Church for a community breakfast. After that, attendees are invited to visit Norwalk High School. Student artwork will be on display, and other students will put on performances. The day will conclude at Norwalk City Hall with a keynote address by Reverend Darien Jones of Bethel AME Church in Stamford. See the flyer below for more information.

The Westport Public Library will hold its 19th annual MLK Day Celebration on Sunday, January 19. Legendary TV producer and Westporter Shonda Rhimes will be the keynote speaker. Click here to learn more about the event.
Please see below for more information on upcoming office hours, Lunar New Year celebrations, and more!

  • If you clicked any link or provided your information, take efforts to secure your personal information and financial accounts. Dispute any unfamiliar charges.
  • Always verify any toll-related charges directly through official state websites or customer service.
  • If you receive one of these messages, file a complaint with the IC3, www.ic3.gov. Include where the number of the originating text came from, and the website from which the number was generated.
