Dear Neighbor,

I am pleased to announce the State Bond Commission’s final approval of two local projects today. The Town of Rocky Hill will receive a grant-in-aid for $175,000 for sewer and infrastructure improvements along Cedar Hollow Drive, and The Friends of Kycia Farm will receive $150,000 for Kycia Farm in Wethersfield.

The residents of Cedar Hollow experienced severe flooding last year. The cost to repair the damage, replace lost items, and upgrade their infrastructure has been staggering. These state funds will be used to upgrade any underground drainage and infrastructure to ensure this does not happen again. Severe rain followed by flooding has been happening more frequently in our communities and we need to plan, prepare, and invest for long-term stability.
Wethersfield residents have voted overwhelmingly to preserve Kycia Farm so that it remains as-is for future generations. However, funds will be needed to prepare the land, remove brush, improve and maintain the barn, and keep roadways operational and safe.

State Rep. Amy Morrin Bello and I worked to secure state funding for the Friends of Kycia Farm to help them with their sustainability and operational efforts.

Of Note: The Bond Commission also allocated $40 million in state funding to reopen Connecticut’s popular Time To Own program to a new round of applicants. Established by Governor Lamont with the support of the state legislature, Time To Own provides down payment assistance to low and moderate-income, first-time homebuyers in Connecticut. Administered by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) on behalf of the Connecticut Department of Housing, this program has already helped thousands of people in the state buy their first homes since launching in 2022.

Sincerely,

Kerry Wood
State Representative
