I joined the staff and members of the Webb Deane Stevens Museum, members of the National Society of Colonial Dames, members of the American Friends of Lafayette, members of the Society of Cincinnati, the Wethersfield Historical Society and Wethersfield residents in celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s 67th birthday at the Webb Deane Stevens Museum. In 1824, Wethersfield was supposed to be a stop on Lafayette’s 1824 Farewell Tour, but the General was delayed and had to skip the town as he hurried back to New York City to attend his 67th birthday celebration. I was glad to take part in the Wethersfield event for the bicentennial tour.
