Building a Sustainable Future by Recycling

July 16, 2024
Recycling is a vital practice for building a sustainable future while protecting our natural environment. Recycling conserves natural resources, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and cuts down on energy consumption and waste. It can also spur economic growth by creating jobs and innovating waste management.
Representative Ron Napoli and I saw this first hand when we toured the Albert Brothers’ scrap metal recycling facility in Waterbury. This local company showed us its professional service and quality products indeed proving why it’s a recycling leader in a global industry! Representatives with Albert Brothers also talked about its role as environmentalists and the importance of recycling on the local, state, and national level.
It is such a pleasure to see other members of our community dedicated to environmental justice in Waterbury. Albert Brothers’ commitment to recycling displays there is broader community support for this initiative. It also underscores the potential for more businesses and community members to contribute meaningfully to environmental sustainability. Hopefully, this dedication sets an example and inspires others to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and resilience across our community and beyond.
Rep. Napoli and I will continue working with the Albert Brothers to promote responsible recycling. We also pledge to work with our colleagues at the Capitol to follow suit. Recycling contributes to cleaner air, water, and a healthier environment for all. We owe it to the people of Connecticut to try to pass more legislation expanding environmental justice and equity laws.
