Wrong-Way Driver Countermeasures
March 27, 2024During the 2023 legislative session, I was proud to support the passage of Public Act 23-51, a pivotal piece of legislation that requires the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) to expand efforts to implement wrong-way driving countermeasures in the state.
Wrong-way driving is a serious issue that has led to numerous accidents and tragic loss of life.
I'm pleased to share that because of this legislation, the CTDOT has installed wrong-way driver countermeasure systems in Danbury on I-84 Westbound at Exit 5 (March 26, 2024) and on Route 7 southbound at Exit 8 (March 14, 2024).
Public Act 23-51 is not just about installing more signs or systems; it's about creating a safer driving environment for all road users. It's about reducing the risk of accidents, protecting lives, and giving families peace of mind when they travel on our roads.
