New London residents: please be aware that next Wednesday, February 15 from 7pm through Thursday, February 16 at 5am, the Connecticut Department of Transportation will install wrong way detection systems on the I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 1 south.
Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the I-95 southbound off ramp to Route 1 south (Colman Street) in New London. Traffic will be detoured to the Briggs Street off-ramp, take a left onto Briggs Street and go over I-95, take a left onto the Frontage Road on ramp and follow Frontage Road back to Colman Street.
Variable message boards will be set approximately one week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
These wrong way detection systems have a proven track record of saving lives, so please maintain a safe speed and respect the construction crew. |
