A historic gem in Stamford is getting a facelift. The state has awarded nearly $2 million in funding for the Avon Theatre. Please read below to learn more about the planned upgrades.

Stamford is part of a Microtransit Pilot Program designed to improve transportation in our city. Keep scrolling to learn more.

My colleagues and I passed legislation this year supporting our local economy, which is reflective in our job growth and bond ratings. You will see how our fiscal policies are already paying dividends below.

Have a great weekend!

Avon Theatre Funding
I am grateful to the Connecticut State Bond Committee for awarding $1.94 million to repair and upgrade the historic Avon Theatre. Renovations will include repointing masonry and brickwork, ADA compliance work on lifts and restrooms, a new roof, new seats, a third screen, an expanded concession area, and a wine bar.
I appreciate all the work everyone involved put together in order to receive this generous bond funding for the Avon Theatre. We are all well aware that times are tough right now, which is why Stamford is so thankful the state is allowing us to continue our work on the much-needed repairs and upgrades to our historic theatre.

Right To Counsel Program Expansion in Stamford

Do you know anyone who may be unfairly evicted from their home? I want everyone to know the Right to Counsel (RTC) Program has expanded and is now operating all over Stamford. The RTC program provides free, experienced lawyers to eligible tenants facing eviction or loss of housing subsidy.

A report from earlier this year shows our RTC Program helped 71% of clients prevent an involuntary move. CLICK HERE for more information.

For those who are in the eviction process or could potentially be in that situation, CLICK HERE. You will get valuable information and help during this difficult time.

Microtransit Pilot Program Coming To Stamford

Stamford is part of the launch of a pilot program designed to modernize transportation and improve the quality of life for everyone. The Microtransit program is an accessible, on-demand mode of transportation that uses a smartphone app or phone number to request and schedule a ride within designated service areas.

The Microtransit pilot program will serve a five-mile boundary within Stamford and will begin within the next six months. The pilot program will last for two years with the possibility of two one-year extensions based on performance and ridership.

Connecticut Supports a Strong Business Climate

Thanks to our strong, fiscally responsible policies at the state level:

  • Our bond ratings are stellar.
  • Job growth numbers keep improving.
  • We have cut billions in unfunded pension debts from our balance sheets.
  • We paid back the pandemic-era Unemployment Trust Fund loan, which is great news for local businesses.

This proactive repayment of the Unemployment Trust loan sends a strong message that Connecticut is open for business.

The Governor's Office has details on the unemployment repayment below.
