Dear Neighbor,

One of my favorite activities is working with young people on the workings of the General Assembly. Among them are the interns that serve my colleagues every year, under the direction of Angie Waszkiewicz. They are college students, and get significant academic credits for their participation.

Last Friday, legislative interns participated in a mock session. The purpose of this exercise is to  simulate the experience of serving as a legislator.

The interns followed the same procedure that my colleagues and I abide by on session days-  participants held caucus meetings to flesh out priorities before debating a wide swarth of bills. Bills were introduced, debated, and voted for on the House floor.

Thank you to all of the interns who took part - I hope you were able to learn about the intricacies of the legislative process.

If you or someone you know requires assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at the Capitol at 1-800-842-1902 or email me at Bob.Godfrey@cga.ct.gov.

Sincerely,

Bob Godfrey
