Legislative Updates & Police Accountability

September 21, 2020
I hope this finds you well as we continue to move forward in this time of COVID. I was in New Jersey for a family event yesterday and the sign on the highway said, “Wash Hands, Wear a Mask and Maintain Distance.” You know I never miss the opportunity to remind you of those things.

Your help and support of these simple but critical public health strategies has continued to make a difference here in Connecticut. Thank you. I’d like to let you know about a number of ways that your input and participation are needed. Please take a look.

Census Deadline

If you haven’t completed your 2020 Census yet, click here. The 10 minutes it takes you translates to federal dollars for Fairfield, our surrounding region and our state. This simple step can provide support for our community for the next decade.

Listening Session

The ongoing Police Transparency and Accountability Task Force continues to seek input from Connecticut residents. Members of the community have the opportunity to voice their concerns and questions during two virtual sessions this Thursday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Citizens, police officers, community leaders and advocates are all encouraged to reach out directly to the task force, as they are charged with providing additional recommendations to the next legislature.

"We will be reporting recommendations to the legislature and Governor and we need your input to make sure we represent all Connecticut voices." - Police Accountability Task Force.

The task force will be holding the twice-a-day, two-hour sessions every Thursday in September. To sign up for any of the upcoming sessions, visit here.

2021 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has prepared a draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which lists all highway and public transit projects that CTDOT intends to pursue during the next four years and covers all towns within the State. Your input and suggestions are welcome and needed.
