Dear Neighbor,

Like my family, many people will travel in order to spend time together this Thanksgiving. Whether you are nestled at home, out on the road, or still searching for a place where you belong, I hope this Thanksgiving is an opportunity to experience and share gratitude. I am grateful for all of you, those who challenge me and those who support the work I do on your behalf. Thank you for caring, for engaging, and for working collectively to build community.
From my family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Small Business Saturday

This Saturday, November 29, is Small Business Saturday all over the US. When I travel, I always go looking for the local independent bookstores. As an aside, I was in Washington, DC for a conference last week and discovered East City Books not far from the Capitol. I highly recommend it if you get down that way.

Fairfield’s Community and Economic Development team will be hosting a table at Greenfield Hill Commons and will be handing out free tote bags from 10-2 with goodies from local businesses.

If you will miss Small Business Saturday, you can join in the fun at the 13th annual Fairfield Shop and Stroll Thursday, December 11 from 6-9 pm.

Shop small and support small businesses.

Celebrating Bullard - Havens and Homes for the Brave

It was a great week for Bridgeport with the celebration of the new Bullard-Havens Technical High School and upgrades to Homes for the Brave.

Bullard-Havens will be an incredible place for our students to prepare for 13 different technical fields in a new, state of the art facility. It was an honor to celebrate alongside the students, Governor Lamont, fellow Bridgeport delegation members, Education Chair, Rep. Leeper, and the construction teams and building trades members who brought the project in on time and under budget. Congratulations, to all!

Homes for the Brave was a special treat, especially after visiting my father’s grave in Arlington this week. The newly updated facility has a new elevator, private rooms, a library and reflection room, allowing Vince Santilli and the amazing team from Homes for the Brave to better serve our Veteran population in need of support. Both state and federal dollars helped to make this project possible.
