The SBM Charitable Foundation has opened scholarship applications for students living in Hartford, Tolland, or Windham County who will be attending a college or university in Connecticut next year. This includes high school students living in Manchester.
The SBM Charitable Foundation, continuing the mission of the former Savings Bank of Manchester, is committed to supporting and bettering the lives of those who live and work East of the River in Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties. SBMCF awards college scholarships annually to students selected based on financial need, school and community activities, and academic achievement.
Scholarship funding is awarded up to $5,000 per recipient for one academic year, and awardees may reapply for a renewal scholarship for up to a total of four undergraduate academic years. Recipients of our undergraduate scholarship are also eligible to apply for financial support for full-time graduate studies at an accredited college or university in Connecticut.
Applications for scholarships are accepted from January through March for the following academic year, beginning in September. Awards are announced in June. All scholarship applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered by March 31, 2026.
