Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July celebrating our country's founding with your friends and family.

I was lucky enough to attend the 131st annual reading of the Declaration of Independence yesterday at Fairfield's Town Hall - one of my favorite local traditions!

With all of the division we see in our country these days, it's important to reflect on the ideals our democracy was founded on: freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

Recently I listened to “Presidential,” a podcast going through each President, and it was an important reminder that we have never fully realized these ideals and America’s promise, but that we remain committed to our struggle toward them and toward a more perfect version of our beautiful country. It is our responsibility as American citizens to continue to strive to realize all that American democracy professes to be. It’s an honor that I get to play this small role in upholding our beautiful democracy.

This week's eblast includes information on Fourth of July fireworks in Fairfield, some upcoming family events, and more. You can click the links below to navigate between sections.

In Connecticut, remember that most fireworks are illegal, which includes selling, possessing with intent to sell, or using fireworks.

There are exceptions for sparklers and fountains, but only for people 16 years or older to use responsibly.
