A message from the Fairfield Museum and History Center about the opening reception for their new exhibit, which will take place Sunday, Sept. 22 from 2:30-4pm:
"Join us to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition Building an American Voice.
Since the nation’s founding, there have been fierce debates regarding which members of society had access to the “unalienable rights” of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” articulated in the Declaration of Independence. In the centuries after America began its democratic experiment, not every voice has been heard. Our new exhibition explores moments in local and national history that highlight how people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures took action to advocate for social justice, fought for civil rights, and often succeeded in enacting change.
