Yankee Doodle Fair
The Westport Woman’s Club annual carnival, the Yankee Doodle Fair, began on Thursday and will continue through Sunday, June 16. The fair will feature carnival rides, games, live music, and delicious food from a wide array of vendors. Click here to learn more about the event.

The event is held at the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Avenue, and in the Imperial Municipal Parking Lot located on Imperial Avenue.  Please note that this municipal lot will be closed to the public through Sunday, June 16 to accommodate the set up and take down of the carnival attractions.

Residents and motorists can expect traffic congestion and temporary delays in the downtown area associated with this event.  Attendees are reminded that there is no event parking allowed on both Thomas Road and Imperial Avenue.  Motorists traveling through the area are asked to exercise caution due to increased pedestrian traffic, and to allow extra time to arrive at their destinations and/or to seek alternate routes if possible.

Cranbury Elementary Survey
Last Friday, I joined CTDOT, our City’s Transportation, Mobility and Parking (TMP) department leaders, FHI Studio, and Cranbury students, teachers, and Principal for a morning walk audit at Cranbury Elementary School. Cranbury Elementary participates in the Safe Routes to School program, which aims to plan, develop and implement projects that will make bicycling and walking to school a safer and more appealing transportation alternative for students.

If you would like to offer suggestions and insights about how students and residents can better move around the outskirts of Cranbury Elementary, I'd encourage you to fill out this survey.

Utility Scams
There has been an influx of scams targeting utility customers with overdue bills. Supply and delivery costs are billed exclusively by the electric distribution company – only Eversource or United Illuminating. If you are contacted by a third party about your electric bill balance, you should assume it is not legitimate.

If you think you have been scammed, reach out to:

  • PURA's Education Outreach and Enforcement Customer Assistance Unit by emailing pura.information@ct.gov
  • Office of Consumer Counsel by emailing occ.info@ct.gov or calling 860-827-2900
  • The Office of the Attorney General at 860-808-5318
