Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! I hope you had a good week.

Please read below for information on a contest for K-12 students, rules and regulations for dogs at Compo Beach, and more!

CHET Dream Big! Competition

Attention K-12 students - the annual CHET Dream Big! competition is now underway. To participate, interested students answer a question in the form of an essay, video, or a piece of artwork. Submissions from younger students will focus on what they want do when they grow older, and older students are asked to describe a lesson they’ve learned or a person who has impacted their lives.

The competition is open to all Connecticut K-12 students, and every child has the chance to participate. Please take a moment to visit the website to learn more, and then encourage your child to take part. More than 250 students will receive monetary prizes to be deposited into a CHET account!

DOT Update for Norwalk

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that SBEA (Small Business Energy Advantage) roadway lighting replacement will be performed on I-95 in Stamford/Norwalk. This project began September 30, and is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, October 31.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be alternating on I-95 north and southbound Monday, September 30 to Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Signing patterns will be provided by State Forces and will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced that I-95 northbound at Exit 15 on-ramp in Norwalk will be closed to traffic beginning on October 6 to October 10.

The reason for the ramp closure is to install proposed drainage, reconstruct ramp, and pave ramp.

The purpose and need for the project is to address the critical condition of the culvert, which exhibits perforations along the culvert invert as well as severe corrosion of the steel culvert. In several locations, the steel protective coating exhibits loss, deteriorations, or is failing and missing all together. Additionally, the project will improve the hydraulic capacity of the system as there has been historical flooding at the I-95 Interchange 15 – intersection of West Avenue with the Route 7 off-ramp and I-95 northbound on-ramp.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There may be closures to the I-95 northbound Exit 15 on-ramp where traffic will be detoured.

I-95 Northbound via US-7 Route

West avenue traffic north of Exit 15 on-ramp will be detoured onto on-ramp US-7 north then to off-ramp Exit 1 and then to US-7 south to I-95 northbound.

I-95 Northbound via Cedar Street

Traffic south of Exit 15 on-ramp will be detoured onto Cedar Street then to Connecticut Avenue and then to I-95 northbound on-ramp Exit 14.
