Let's Talk About It: Democracy & Liberty
I spoke with journalist and WILI radio host John Murphy about democracy in a Fourth of July themed show on “Let’s Talk About It.” We highlighted the 39th annual Boom Box Parade in Willimantic, broke down our country’s history surrounding July 4, 1776, and talked about the importance of liberty as we approach a presidential election in November.

Murphy played a recording of President John F. Kennedy reading the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1957, toward the end of the program. Please click on the video below to listen to the entire show.

Summer Mental Health Funding for Our Youth
Windham Public Schools will receive $41,520 in funding for mental health programming for children during the summer months over the next two years. This investment will create a safer, more nurturing environment for our youth.
Windham School District is one of 36 recipients of the Connecticut State Department of Education’s Summer Mental Health Supports Grant program. In total, more than $2 million is going to support mental health at public schools and summer camps across the state.

Disability Pride Month
July is Disability Pride Month, an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, and experiences of individuals with disabilities.

It also marks the anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), landmark legislation that broke down barriers to inclusion in society.

As your state representative, I vow to fight for legislation that will help those with disabilities.
