SLRP is Now Open & Accepting Applications
August 15, 2025The Student Loan Reimbursement Program (SLRP) is now open and accepting applications, with expanded eligibility requirements, including a wider range of educational and volunteer experiences.
This expanded eligibility opens the door for more individuals who are burdened with student loan debt to qualify for relief.
Here's who qualifies for relief under the expanded program requirements:
- Current Connecticut residents who have lived in the state for at least five consecutive years immediately prior to application
- Must have an outstanding student loan balance and made a qualifying payment in 2024 (paid toward a federal direct loan, federal direct PLUS loan, federal Perkins loan, CHESLA loan, or other state-sponsored student loan)
- Must have graduated from a Connecticut public or private college or university with a degree, or have earned an occupation/professional license or certificate through a program
- Earn income at or below $125,000 for an individual, or $175,000 for married applicants
- Must have volunteered for at least 50 hours after Jan. 1, 2024, at a Connecticut nonprofit organization, in municipal government, or through military service (with notarized proof of volunteer documentation)
- A hardship waiver may be requested in certain cases of degree non-completion
The Student Loan Reimbursement Program is administered by the CT Office of Higher Education, and qualified applicants can receive up to $20,000 over four years.
