Blue Hills Neighborhood Traffic Calming Pilot Program

December 7, 2023

Dear Neighbor,

The City of Hartford Planning & Zoning Division has been working with the Blue Hills neighborhood on a Traffic Calming Demonstration Project to design slower, safer streets.

There is a temporary pilot installation around Rawson Elementary School. The project is intended to be a temporary demonstration that will be in place and data collected in December.

The team hopes to receive feedback from the community on likes and dislikes and the installation's positive and negative impacts.

You can learn more HERE

There will be an open house on Saturday, December 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rawson Elementary School Gymnasium, 260 Holcomb Street. At the event, you'll learn more about the installation and how it helps reduce speeds and make the streets slower and safer. The project team will also be available to discuss the pilot project process as well as the larger effort to introduce traffic calming and speed reduction to the greater neighborhood area.
