Bill Concerning Creation of Land Bank Authorities Passes

May 20, 2019

The House of Representatives passes HB 7277, An Act Concerning the Creation of Land Bank Authorities.

The bill would permit municipalities to establish land bank authorities for the purposes of acquiring real property, maintaining any such real property and disposing of any such real property within such municipalities.

Hartford has already been permitted to establish a land bank for city use, which has allowed the city to begin the process of restoring its blighted properties. I am happy that we now have legislation that will not only preserve our district, but also our state's vibrancy.

The bill will now be considered by the Senate.
