Sober Home Legislation
I recently testified in support of legislation that would require sober homes to register as businesses. We currently have no way to track the number of sober homes in Danbury or any other municipality or to ensure they're providing the care they promised. HB 5741, An Act Concerning Sober Homes would require sober homes to:
- Register as a business with the municipality in which they are located
- Register with the state Department of Public Health
- Have naloxone (Narcan) available on the premises if any person living there has a history of opioid addiction
- Provide training in the administration of naloxone to all tenants if any person living there has a history of opioid addiction
