I'm teaming up with a number of organizations to talk about two proposed pieces of legislation, one regarding the TRUST Act (SB 692) and one regarding the maximum term of imprisonment for a misdemeanor (SB 61). Both would help CT make its own decisions on how we treat our neighbors.

Then this video breaks, and we are reminded about how important this is.

Being a cop isn't an easy job, and they put their lives on the line for us every day. They deserve our respect.

At the same time, there are those in uniform who don't represent the profession and who make their colleagues' jobs harder, because rather than dispensing curbside justice through communication and de-escalation, some act like the officer in the video.

How do we build trust in our local communities when there are no repercussions for the bad actors?
