Dear Neighbor,
Great news on Batterson Park, which has been closed since 2015.
We broke ground last week on improvements being made to the regional park, with the hope of a September grand opening.
Getting to this point required a massive team effort by the officials from DEEP, Farmington, Hartford, and New Britain, and the state legislative delegations from those municipalities.
Batterson Park has an unusual, if not unique, arrangement. Hartford owns the 266-acre park, but the land actually straddles Farmington and New Britain. The park had fallen into disrepair following its closing, its future had remained in doubt.
Kudos to House Speaker Matt Ritter, as well as Farmington Town Manager Kathy Blonski and her team, as well as other officials for pushing the project to the finish line.
Plans for the project include paving a new parking area and driveway, building a boardwalk and picnic pavilion, and constructing a bird-watching tower. There will be plenty of opportunities for family-friendly fun, with a playground and splash pad in the plans as well. |

Prescription Drug Take Back Event |
|
|
Saturday, April 26, is Prescription Drug Take Back Day - a national event that provides a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications … no questions asked.
Farmington is not hosting an event Saturday, but it does serve as a reminder that the police department has a prescription drug drop box in the lobby where medications can be disposed of at any time.
