Remembering 9/11

September 11, 2025

September 11, 2001, is one of those rare days when nearly every one of a certain age can remember exactly where they were as the terrorist attacks unfolded.

Like so many, I was shocked when the planes struck the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.

Here in Connecticut, so close to New York City, many of us knew someone who perished at the Twin Towers or who rushed to Ground Zero to help. We leaned on one another, and we were strengthened by the compassion of allies across the globe.

I do hope we can carry forward the lesson it taught us: that what unites us is always greater than what divides us. That is the deeper meaning of Never Forget — and it is as important today as it was 24 years ago.

Because unity is not only the truest way to confront terrorism and other threats — it is also the best path forward for Farmington, for Connecticut, and for our nation.

Sincerely,

Mike Demicco
