I want to let you know of some good news regarding funding for community development in Hamden.
The state Community Investment Fund (CIF), administered by the Department of Economic Community Development, has approved Hamden’s application for funding of an Affordable Housing Project for 2980 State Street. The project calls for 64 new affordable housing units, a community hub, as well as pedestrian and streetscape improvements that will help transform this area.
The final project needs to be approved by the state Bond Commission in the coming weeks, but this was an important first hurdle to clear for what will be a very key investment for Hamden. The project addresses the need for affordable housing across the state and will help working families in our town while benefiting our tax base.
