| Extreme Hot Weather Protocol Activated |

Due to long-duration heat wave that is expected to impact Connecticut, the Governor has ordered the state’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol to be activated now through at least 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.
An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service as Connecticut has the potential to reach the warning-level criteria. Peak temperatures are expected during the afternoon hours of Thursday, July 2; and Friday, July 3, when highs are expected to reach 100 degrees and heat indices could climb up to 110 degrees each day.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions during the heat wave, including staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and checking on older adults, young children, and other vulnerable individuals who may be at greater risk of heat-related illness. Substitute Busing for Trains
on the Waterbury Line |

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is alerting riders that due to major upgrades to four Metro-North Waterbury Branch Line (WBL) stations in Derby-Shelton, Ansonia, Beacon Falls, and Seymour, substitute bus service will replace all train service from July 20 through May 31, 2027.
Substitute bus service will be effective for all weekday and weekend trains, and all buses are accessible. Please note that buses will operate earlier than scheduled trains.

Drivers traveling through Waterbury should be prepared for overnight delays starting on Sunday, June 28, as two road projects get underway.
Bridge Improvements on Route 8 and I-84
Drivers can expect lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through Friday, Oct. 9. The work will affect the following bridges:
- Route 8 North and South Near Exit 27 in Waterbury
- I-84 East and West over Route 188 in Middlebury
- I-84 East and West over Route 63 in Middlebury
Route 845 Milling and Resurfacing Project
In a separate paving project, crews will mill and resurface about a one-mile stretch of Route 845 from Route 64 to Country Club Road. The work is scheduled from Sunday through Thursday, July 9, with lane closure from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.

While the road work may cause temporary inconveniences, these improvements are designed to enhance safety and extend the lifespan of critical transportation infrastructure that thousands of area residents rely on every day.
Please allow extra travel time, remain alert in work zones, and slow down to help keep construction crews and fellow motorists safe. Work schedules may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen conditions. |
