OUT N' ABOUT IN THE 41ST DISTRICT
I attended a ribbon cutting hosted by The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut this week to welcome Chase Bank to our district! Many community members and officials were in attendance to celebrate the opening of their newest branch in ‘downtown’ Groton.

As of June, JPMorganChase had $3.503 trillion in total assets, making it the largest bank in the US. Earlier in the year, the bank shared that they will continue to expand in Connecticut.

Congratulations on your opening!

I was thrilled to join Mystic Museum of Art along with Rep. Kevin Ryan for their incredible exhibition highlighting the printmaking of African American Artists!
Proud to support Connecticut Humanities-funded initiatives and the arts in Southeastern CT!

Please visit the Printmaking & the Unconventional Pathways of African American Artists" exhibit. You can read more HERE.

It was great attending the annual Blessing of the Fleet in Stonington Borough. This cherished tradition not only pays tribute to the lives of our dedicated fishermen, but also highlights their unwavering commitment to our community.

This event truly is a testament to the strength and resilience of our community, always coming together to support one another. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event possible.

Thank you to Nancy and Joe for annually hosting neighbors right on the F/V Furious at this celebration. The unity and spirit of Stonington certainly shined brightly as we gathered to celebrate and remember.

A fun fact: Based in Stonington, the Empire Fisheries team goes out on the F/V Furious and catches scallops and monkfish.

COFFEE WITH AUNDRE AT THE DITTY BAG SATURDAY
Please join me for coffee tomorrow at the Ditty Bag!

CT JOINS U.S. DOE IN BETTER CLIMATE CHALLENGE
Connecticut has joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, becoming one of more than 50 organizations across the United States stepping up to the challenge and driving real-world action toward a low-carbon future.
As Connecticut undertakes this challenge, DOE will support its efforts with technical assistance, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and a platform for the organization to demonstrate its commitment to being part of the solution to climate change. AN INVESTMENT IN AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC HEAT PUMPS
Connecticut will get up to $100 million to help speed up the process of attaining more affordable electric heat pumps installed throughout the state. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is awarding $450 million to a coalition of states, including Connecticut, known as the New England Heat Pump Accelerator Coalition.

The goal is to increase the number of cold-climate air-source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and ground-source heat pumps in single-family and multi-family homes. These heat pumps reduce emissions, provide significant health benefits, and deliver energy savings.

The coalition will work collaboratively to promote the development of heat pump skill sets in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical workforce. It also intends to invest about 50% of the benefits in historically overburdened and underserved communities.

Additionally, the coalition will partner with heat pump manufacturers, distributors, and installers to increase the availability of air-source and ground-source heat pumps while lowering equipment and installation costs for consumers. This partnership will include significant investment in workforce training, ensuring installers have access to good-paying careers while delivering more efficient heating and cooling solutions. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IS TUESDAY
National Night Out is less than 2 weeks away! The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Poquonnock Plains Park. There will be dozens of community organizations, touch-a-trucks, food, music, and fun! Bring friends, and join the Town of Groton Police Department for a great time. I hope to see you there!
