Genga Receives East Hartford Youth Award

Rep. Henry Genga has been given the 2016 Service to Youth Award by town officials for the concern he has demonstrated for the well-being of the youth of East Hartford, Cephus Nolan, director of town youth services, said.

In nominating Genga for the award, former Mayor Melody Currey cited his service to youth as a former teacher, the time and effort spent fundraising for Child Plan and his work toward legislation to protect children’s long-term health by addressing the issue of smoking in cars transporting youths.

“Henry has proven his dedication time and again in our community,” Currey said.

“I am honored to be recognized by town officials and those in our community who who work for the betterment of children,” Genga said.

Genga is also a board member for East of the River Action Group for substance abuse elimination, a member and past chairman of the East Hartford YMCA.
