Rep. Allie-Brennan Receives 100% Score from CBIA

December 4, 2023

State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan (D-Bethel, Danbury) has been recognized for his ongoing commitment to promoting a thriving business environment in our state as the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) recently awarded him with a perfect score of 100% on his 2023 legislative scorecard.

The CBIA advocates for policies that foster economic development, job creation, and a competitive business climate. Its annual scorecard evaluates legislators based on their voting records and support for pro-business initiatives.

"I am humbled to be recognized for championing our local businesses. In 2023, we not only passed legislation to shape a future where businesses could flourish but also actively opposed harmful policies that could hinder innovation and growth," said Rep. Allie-Brennan. “I've actively met with local business owners across various industries, taking my lead directly from them. Their insights and experiences are guiding forces in shaping policies that truly reflect the diverse needs of our community."

“Our voting scorecards reflect lawmakers’ priorities, measuring their support for critically needed workforce development and affordability solutions,” said CBIA President and CEO Chris DiPentima. "Bipartisanship and the willingness of many lawmakers to collaborate and engage with employer groups was a hallmark of the 2023 session. That bipartisanship and collaboration resulted in better outcomes and solutions for addressing our most pressing challenges. Those legislators went above and beyond in their support for small businesses, and we are very appreciative of their efforts.”

This year, Representative Allie-Brennan proudly pushed for the passage of legislation that provides vital support to business owners. Notably, Public Act 23-4 was enacted, which eliminates onerous and expensive unemployment reporting requirements. Additionally, he supported Special Act 23-11, which requires various stakeholders to study how the state can use the H1-B cap exempt visa process to expand Connecticut's workforce population.

This recognition from the CBIA underscores Representative Allie-Brennan's commitment to representing the interests of his constituents. His perfect score reflects his unwavering support for policies that promote economic prosperity, job creation, and a vibrant business community.
