Dear Neighbor,

During Wednesday's session, we approved $17 million in additional cold weather heating assistance funds – many residents and families who receive assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or Operation Fuel will have access to funds to ensure they can heat their homes through the cold weather season.

As House Chair of the Energy & Technology Committee, I’m dedicated to assuring that none of our neighbors must choose between paying their bills or freezing.

I am committed to enhancing the safety and quality of life for all residents, and I will continue to do so throughout this legislative session.

In addition to approving heating assistance funds, the House of Representatives also approved the nomination of Connecticut’s judges. Reviewing judicial nominations is a vital part of the legislative process, just as important as any other piece of legislation that is debated.

Our rigorous nominations process assures that our courts are presided over judges that are smart, qualified and fair. Approving judges  also strengthens  judicial system - more judges means more cases can be head at a quicker pace. Seeking justice without bias is what we expect all judges to pursue. It is an essential pillar of Democracy.
