Today, in the House, we passed an emergency-certification that will ease some of the financial burden on Connecticut residents and working families whose wallets and budgets have taken a hit due to rising gas prices and record-breaking inflation levels.

Connecticut and the nation have seen gas prices increase at an alarming rate during this time of global unrest and the effect of market volatility on commodity prices.

The mental health and well-being of our state's youth and families has been a leading priority of mine. While we saw a rise in depression, anxiety, self-harm, and other forms of distress in young people prior to the pandemic, the increased isolation and uncertainty that has come from the past two years has exacerbated this issue

Frigid temperatures are in Connecticut's forecast this week, prompting Governor Lamont to activate the state's severe cold weather protocol for the first time this winter which will be in effect through 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday, the shopping holiday that encourages consumers to support small businesses in our community. Many locally owned businesses will be offering various sales and promotions to encourage customers to shop small this holiday season.

November 11 is Veterans Day. Today, we honor the brave men and women in uniform.

Next week, several new laws in Connecticut will go into effect on October 1. These laws are a result of the hard work of my colleagues and I during the 2021 session. We worked tirelessly to push for change that would benefit all Connecticut residents.
