I would like to thank my colleagues in the Senate for supporting the passage of this legislation that will help to generate much-needed revenue to Bridgeport and the state. I look forward to the governor’s signing the bill into law and for our great city to take full advantage of this opportunity.

On Friday the State Bond Commission approved loans for the expansion of two manufacturers in Wallingford and Cheshire.

On May 3, we passed legislation that would establish a small business hotline at the Department of Economic and Community Development where businesses will be able to get the guidance they are looking for on state programs and funding opportunities – all from a live voice. It is vital that we give small businesses the tools and resources they need to have a thriving business in Connecticut.

Legislators in the House of Representatives voted Wednesday in favor of a bill that expands access to the angel investor tax credit program to businesses in any industry, will help more small businesses gain access to the capital they need to grow and create jobs.

We need to do more to ensure that students who earn a world-class education in our state go on to join Connecticut’s workforce. That’s why I support HB 5586.
