May 15, 2019The House of Representatives passed HB 5524, An Act Increasing the Penalties for the Sale of Fentanyl. The bill amends the definition of narcotic substances to classify fentanyl and fentanyl derivatives as a narcotic, thus, increasing the penalty for possession and related crimes.
House Passes Offshore Wind Bill
May 14, 2019The House of Representatives gave its approval today, to a renewable energy measure expected to position the state as a leader in green technology. The legislation, HB 7156, An Act Concerning The Procurement Of Energy Derived From Offshore Wind, would authorize the procurement of energy derived from offshore wind and ultimately transform the state’s net zero carbon energy portfolio into a new maritime industry.

April 11, 2019Today I joined Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, members of the city's state and federal delegations, representatives from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), and the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) to announce $3.3 million in state funds for the ongoing work at the abandoned Anamet site (17.5 acres on the Naugatuck River) in Waterbury.

March 30, 2019I co-sponsored legislation that was passed by the Joint Committee on Labor and Public Employees Committee. HB 6508, An Act Concerning Investment in the Construction Job Workforce for Low-Income Residents, will be voted by the House this session.
The bill aims to create a construction job career path for low-income residents and ensure successful employment through state hiring requirements in state construction contracts.
Representative Napoli Jr., Waterbury Legislators and Leaders Support Laws to Address Repeat Auto Thefts
March 12, 2019Today the Public Safety and Security Committee discussed House Bill No. 7332, “An Act Concerning Public Safety and the Welfare of Repeat Juvenile Offenders and their Victims.” The bill aims to require juveniles charged with theft of a motor vehicle to have their cases transferred to criminal court when they have a history of prior felony adjudications or convictions.
