Supporting the Inclusion of African American Studies in Public Schools
April 30, 2019Alongside fellow legislators and key advocacy groups essential to last year’s passage of a similar bill which mandated the inclusion of Holocaust studies in the public school curriculum, I attended a legislative reception to offer her support for a bill that she believes will offer further equal representation in the social studies curriculum.

Appropriations Committee Takes Next Step in the Budget Process
April 30, 2019The legislature took the next key step in the budget making process on Tuesday. After weeks of budget hearings and working groups, the Appropriations Committee, of which I am member, released their proposal in response to Governor Lamont's budget, which was released on Feb. 20.

One Step Closer to Early Voting in CT
April 25, 2019The House took action approving a resolution that would include a ballot question to amend the State Constitution to allow for an in-person early voting system. Once the resolution gets final legislative approval, the question will appear on the November 2020 ballot for voters to decide if Connecticut should implement it.
Addressing Gun Violence and Injury as a Public Health Issue
April 22, 2019Joined Majority Leader Matt Ritter this morning to host an Informational Hearing on gun violence & injury as a public health issue. Great conversation on the role healthcare providers can play in addressing this epidemic. The first of many conversations to come! We were lucky enough to moderate a panel discussion featuring influential speakers.
