I'm looking forward to the annual Council of State Governments/Eastern Regional Conference at Mohegan Sun in August. Governor Malloy, Speaker of the House Aresimowicz and I spoke to business leaders and others in Hartford about this high-profile convention.

On Monday I attended the St. Bernard School’s 60th anniversary and participated in the ribbon cutting for the school’s recent renovations. As a graduate of St. Bernard, it’s great to see the school making improvements that will benefit students for many years to come!

I recently attended the bill signing ceremony for legislation to combat Connecticut's opioid epidemic. This new law acts both to help those currently struggling with opioid addiction and prevent new cases of addiction.

This week the House of Representatives passed legislation to allow limited use of medical marijuana for children. I’m proud to support this legislation, HB 5450, which will help children with serious medical conditions.

I’m glad I was able to join my fellow legislators for Manufacturing Day at the Capitol. The event celebrated Connecticut’s progress in growing manufacturing jobs and highlighted manufacturing initiatives taking place across the state, including at Montville High School.

I'm glad I was able to join my fellow legislators, Sen. Cathy Osten and Rep. Emmett Riley, at Backus Hospital to highlight Connecticut's Safe Havens Law. Through this event we hoped to bring attention to this life-saving law.
