Information to alleviate financial burdens on businesses caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

If you are a worker and find yourself unable to go to work, or if you are an employer and need to temporarily close your business, the following information will help answer most of the frequently asked questions.

New coordinated measures from Connecticut, New York and New Jersey have been put in place to combat COVID-19 – throughout the tri-state area.

Superintendent Testani announced there will be emergency food service sites available during school closings from March 13 until March 20^th, 2020. The designated schools will be open Monday through Friday to provide breakfast and lunch for all Bridgeport students. Kitchen staff will work their regularly scheduled hours: 7:30AM to 1:30PM. Students must be 18 years old and under, children ages 10 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Connecticut DPH State Laboratory has confirmed three additional individuals have tested positive. In total, 95 individuals have been tested at the State Laboratory: 6 positive and 89 negative.

As Connecticut focuses on containing the coronavirus, the Office of the Attorney General has received multiple complaints regarding large price hikes in basic supplies like hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.

I joined with my Bridgeport colleague State Representative Antonio Felipe in testifying in favor of the legalization of cannabis in front of the recent Judiciary Committee public hearing. 

I recently got together with administrators of the Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders (BCYL) to talk about the positive outcome of state funding we were able to get in 2018 for families displaced by Hurricane Maria. In this series of videos, we highlight the indispensable work that BCYL is doing to help the families transitioning in Bridgeport. We also interviewed families that recently came here as a result of the recent earthquakes that have damaged homes and upturned lives. I want to also thank the late Representative Ezequiel Santiago who helped fight for the funding that even today is still making a difference.
