Last week, the 2023 Legislative Session adjourned for the year. Before adjourning, the week was packed with a lot of hard work and negotiations to the last minute. We were able to pass a balanced, bipartisan budget that maintains our commitment to promoting fiscal responsibility and stability to continue strengthening our economy, while delivering on key investments that support the children, families and seniors.

We are in the final 3 days in the legislative session and will be debating the budget today. Today until Wednesday, we are in session every day (usually late into the night). You can watch us live on CT-N here.

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed HB 6667, the most comprehensive update to Connecticut's gun violence statutes since the historic reforms we passed after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Connecticut voters asked the legislature for more voting options through a constitutional amendment on early voting that they overwhelmingly approved, and we are answering the call.

The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) unanimously voted to begin a search for consultants to monitor the performance of the state's two electric distribution companies - Eversource and United Illuminating. This is an important step toward eventually shifting to performance-based regulation for the companies.
