Updates from State Rep. Gary Turco for Sept. 19, 2025

September 19, 2025

Join me today in pausing to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.

As a legislator, and a fellow American, I carry deep gratitude for the families who live with uncertainty every day. Your strength reminds us of the cost of freedom and the promise we owe: to never forget.

Here in Connecticut, we join the nation in remembering the names, the stories, and the faces behind the uniform. Their absence is felt, their service remembered, and their return always hoped for.

To every Connecticut family who bears this burden: always remember that you are seen, you are honored, and we will always keep the light on.

Gathering to Grieve Tonight

Reminder that this is tonight:

Over the last several years, we have seen an increase in politically motivated violence where both Democrats and Republicans, politicians and citizens have been the targets. At the same time, it can feel like not a day goes by that we don't hear reports on the news of a school or other type of mass shooting.

In times like these, I believe it is important for our communities of Newington and New Britain to be shining examples of unity and civility.

I know some people may be feeling a lot of emotions and need an opportunity to come together to grieve, heal, express, or just be around fellow residents who also want to see better days ahead for our country.

Please see the flyer below for an opportunity to come together, hosted by an alliance of different faiths in Newington.  They are welcoming all faiths, religions, and backgrounds this Friday, Sept. 19, at 6:30pm at the Congressional Church on Main Street.

I hope to see you there.

Thank you.
