As we prepare for tax season, the Town of Manchester is partnering with the IRS, VITA, and AARP to offer free tax filing assistance to qualifying residents.
The Town of Manchester will have two VITA sites to help residents this tax season. One VITA site will be at the Manchester Senior Center. This site will open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting January 31st. A second VITA site will be at the Manchester Community Center at 18 Main Street. This VITA site will be open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting February 7th. Tax assistance at VITA sites is available for simple income tax returns only for families and individuals making no more than $69,000 a year. Assistance is available by appointment only. Both VITA sites will be open through April 11th.
The Manchester AARP/TCE site will be open starting on February 2nd, from 12:45 to 2 p.m., Mondays - Thursdays. There is no qualifying income limit required to access tax assistance services through the AARP/TCE site.
Required documents to bring:
- All W2's for the household
- 1099 Forms (Pension, Social Security)
- Social Security cards or Individual taxpayer ID numbers for all household members
- Last year's tax return (if applicable)
- Child Care Provider name, address, and tax ID or Social Security number, if you pay childcare
- Education expenses & student loan information
- Valid photo I.D.
- Documentation of property tax payments (home, auto)
- For direct deposit, a check or savings account and routing number
- Any other tax-related documents you have received
- If you are married and filing jointly, both you and your spouse need to be present to sign the completed income tax form
VITA and AARP/TCE volunteers are IRS-certified to offer tax filing assistance services.
