Rep. Pat Dillon and New Haven Delegation Secure Historic Dollars for New Haven

May 5, 2026

The last day of the 2026 legislative session is right around the corner. There have been several long and  stressful nights, but I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish. One such accomplishment is the budget, which was passed on Saturday night. The New Haven delegation was able to secure over $7 million in additional education aid and $12 million in municipal funding for the city.

The budget also made significant investments into elementary and secondary education statewide, including $12 million to expand free school breakfasts. It also deposits $300 million into the Early Childhood Endowment to support free or significantly reduced childcare programming to debut in 2027.

Although legislative work is important, I have greatly missed seeing you all in the district. That's why I decided to spend part of my Sunday at the CitySeed Farmers' Market at Edgewood Park. It was wonderful to see so many folks from the community -  these conversations help solidify my legislative priorities and ensure that every voice is represented. I will continue to fight for you as we speed towards the May 6 deadline.
