BPRC Leaders on FEMA's Decision to Cut Temporary Housing Help

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) decided to rescind Transitional Shelter Assistance (TSA) housing benefits to Puerto Rican families who came to Connecticut after Hurricane Maria to almost 40 families. This decision is beyond unacceptable – it is cruel, inhumane and outrageous. We urge FEMA and the federal government to reverse this unfair decision and provide the necessary funds for these American citizens, who are in extreme need of shelter, particularly during the cold days of winter.

In a bipartisan vote, the House of Representatives today voted to restore $54 million in funding to the Medicare Savings Program (MSP). More than 113,000 seniors and disabled individuals depend on the state program to purchase their Medicare Part B benefits.
