Supporting Education Funding

March 4, 2026

SB 7, An Act Concerning Educational Equity, and HB 5002, An Act Concerning Education Funding, Special Education, and Early Childhood Programs call for an increase in Education Cost Sharing funding.

Schools across Connecticut—and especially in Bridgeport—are at a critical juncture and require immediate, substantial increases in state support. Investing in education, particularly during the pivotal early years, is not only the most cost-effective strategy we have, but also the most powerful tool to transform lives, revitalize neighborhoods, expand economic opportunity, and lay the groundwork for a stronger, more equitable future for all.

Every student in our state deserves access to world-class facilities, fully funded programs, and genuine opportunities to thrive. I am proud to have helped secure funding for state-of-the-art school buildings in our District, but bricks and mortar alone are not enough—we must also ensure robust funding for high-quality instruction. SB-7 and HB-5002 represent critical steps forward, strengthening our schools, empowering our educators, and investing in every child’s potential. The time to act is now. I am committed to advancing these legislative priorities this session.
