September 11 Remembrance in Milford

September 10, 2025

On September 11, we pause to honor the memory of all the victims and the countless lives forever changed 24 years ago. The attacks that day left an indelible mark in Milford and the rest of the nation. Our community remembers Michael Miller and Avnish Patel, both graduates of Live Oaks Elementary School, and Seth Morris, a former student at Mathewson Elementary School. Their lives, like so many others, were cut tragically short on that day.

The City of Milford will gather to honor their memory and every life lost in the attacks. At 8:46 a.m. on September 11 – the moment the first plane struck the World Trade Center – we will hold a bell ringing ceremony at the 9/11 monument on the grounds of City Hall. The ceremony will include song and prayer as our community comes together in remembrance, reflection, and solidarity.

May we never forget those whose lives were stolen from us, nor the courage of the first responders, construction crews, service members, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to save others, and who worked tirelessly in the days and years that followed to help our country rebuild. Their bravery and sacrifice remain a testament to the resilience of the American spirit.

Let us continue to stand together, hold close the memory of those we lost, and ensure that future generations understand the weight of the day and the strength that carried us through it.
